Township
Your Elected Officials -
Supervisor: Dean Nelson is serving his first term and resides on his
farm south of Fairgrange. The Township Supervisor serves as
Chief Executive Officer of the township. The Supervisor's duties
and responsibilities include serving as Chairman of the Township
Board of Trustees, Supervisor of the General Assistance program,
and Treasurer of all Town funds including General Assistance and
Road and Bridge funds. He also works with the Township Attorney
on any matters pertaining to township business.
Town Clerk: Nancy Boyer has been a resident of the township for
over 30 years. The township clerk is clerk of the town board of
trustees, is keeper of all records of the town, except those for active
general assistance cases. The clerk is required to keep accurate
records of all meetings of the town board. The clerk is also
responsible for taking the roll call on all votes. The clerk is the local
election authority and is responsible for accepting petitions
concerning local elections and/or referendums. The town clerk is
responsible for publishing or posting certain specific notices
including notices for the highway commissioner. The office of town
clerk is an extremely important one and has proven so in numerous
court decisions. It is the clerk’s records that are the official records
of the township and their sanctity must be preserved making her a
very integral part of our township board.
Road Commissioner: John Austin is a long time township resident
returning to the position in 2013 having previously served and
also serves as Firefighter / Trustee for the Seven Hickory Morgan
Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Duties of the road
commisoner are to oversee and maintain roads and bridges
conduct snow ice and debris removal and maintain township
facilities and equipment and also prepare and oversee the Road
District budget.
Trustee: Veronica Ready is senior trustee in her second
term of service first elected in 2010 reviewing monthly
expenses, including road repair bills, maintenance
expenses, employee pay, purchase of materials, evaluating
equipment, signing the appropriate bills for payment, and
working with the road commissioner to determine what
current projects are being addressed and future projects
and their timeline. Veronica also works with the rest of the
township board to make the best use of the money
available to do the most for our community.
Trustee: Todd Easton operates a grain farming operation in the south
west corner of the township. He was first appointed as trustee to fill an
unexpired term in 2102 and later elected to the position as trustee he
reviews monthly expenses, including road repair bills, maintenance
expenses, employee pay, purchase of materials, evaluating equipment,
signing the appropriate bills for payment, and working with the road
commissioner to determine what current projects are being addressed
and future projects and their timeline. Trustees also works with the rest
of the township board to make the best use of the money available to do
the most for the our community. Todd also serves as a Firefighter for the
Seven Hickory Morgan Volunteer Fire Department.

most for the our community. In addition Mike Serves as Fire Chief for the
Seven Hickory Morgan Volunteer Fire Department.
Coles County,  Illinois
Trustee: Bill Strode was appionted to Trustee in 2016 finishing a vacated
unexpired term as a trustee he reviews monthly expenses, including road
repair bills, maintenance expenses, employee pay, purchase of materials,
evaluating equipment, signing the appropriate bills for payment, and
working with the commissioner to determine what current projects are
being addressed and future projects and their timeline. Trustees also
work with the rest of the township board to make the best use of the
money available to do the most for the our community. In addition Bill
Serves as Assistant Fire Chief for the Seven Hickory Morgan Volunteer
Fire Department.
